ATLANTA – No. 17 Georgia Tech (44-10, 10-3 ACC) will travel to College Park, Md., for its Atlantic Coast Conference regular season finale against Maryland (22-17, 4-8 ACC) on Friday and Saturday, April 29-30. The Yellow Jackets need to win just one of the three-game series, to clinch their first regular season ACC title. First pitch on Friday will be at 5 p.m. ET.
The Jackets hold a two-and-a-half game lead over the Florida State Seminoles (11-6) in the ACC standings. Tech and FSU are followed in the conference standings by North Carolina (9-8), Virginia (7-7), NC State (6-7), Maryland (4-8) and Virginia Tech (3-11).
The Yellow Jackets are riding an 11-game winning streak against the Terps and have not dropped a game to UMD since the 2001 season, where the two teams split in College Park, with Tech winning the opener 4-3, and dropping the nightcap, 1-0, on April 15. Tech and UMD are even in the all-time series, 15-15.
The Rambling Wreck ranks in six different categories nationally; third in stolen bases per game (2.62), 13th in win-loss percentage (.811), 14th in fielding percentage (.974), 17th in earned run average (1.50), 25th in scoring (5.3) and 26th in batting average (.306).
