Atlanta – The Yellow Jackets, ranked No. 37 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, face their second consecutive Southeastern Conference opponent Saturday, Feb. 17 when they head to Auburn, Ala. to take on the Tigers at noon on the Auburn Intramural Courts.
Saturday’s match will be the 32nd meeting between the Jackets and the Tigers with Tech holding the all-time series lead 20-11. When the two teams last met on Feb 26, 2006, also in Auburn, Tech came away with a 4-3 win capturing a point in doubles and sealing victories in the No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots.
Auburn’s last win over Tech was during the 2005 season, also by a 4-3 score.
Saturday’s match with Auburn will be the second road test for the Jackets this season, which fell at Arizona State on Feb. 10.
The Jackets are coming off a 7-0 loss to SEC powerhouse and top-ranked Georgia Tuesday in the Bill Moore Tennis Center. The Jackets competed Tuesday without their No. 1 singles player, 36th-ranked David North, who is listed as probable with a sore back.
