Jackets to Travel to Clemson, Boston and Nashville

THE FLATS — The Georgia Tech track and field team will be spread out this weekend, with student-athletes traveling to Clemson, Boston, and Nashville through Feb. 8 – Feb. 9.

In last week’s meet at the Power Five Invitational, senior Avery Bartlett finished first in the 800m event with an impressive time of 1:49.02.

The men’s distance medley relay also did well, finishing in first. Bartlett, Daniel Pietsch,Tyler Whorton, and Nahom Solomon finished with the best time of the season for the Jackets with a time of 9:46.85.

On the women’s side, both Brianna Hayden and Elizabeth Rice operated at a high level. Hayden won the 200m event with a time of 24.17, while Rice finished in fourth in the 3000m event with a PR time of 9:59.99.

The Jackets will be competing with some of the best schools in the nation in the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C., schools such as No. 2/5 Florida State, No. 7/3 Texas A&M, and No. 30/16 Tennessee will be in attendance, along with ACC rivals No. 77/95 Duke and No. 63/47 Clemson.

At the Music City Invitational, three SEC teams, No. 9/14 Alabama, No. 92/79 Ole Miss and No. 64/82 Mississippi State, along with Vanderbilt will be competing with the Jackets. The invite will be held in Nashville, Tennessee at the Multipurpose Facility.

Lastly, the David Hemerey Valentine Invitational, held in Boston, Massachusetts, will be made up of approximately 3,500 athletes representing more than 90 teams including hundreds of post-collegiate athletes.

This weekend also marks the last time the Jackets will be in competition before the ACC Indoor Championships, Feb. 21 through Feb. 23, in Blacksburg, Virginia.
