Jackets Set to Host SMU and Boston College

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team will host SMU and Boston College in the final full weekend of ACC play.

STORYLINES:

The Jackets are 11-10 through three months of play, highlighted by ranked wins over Miami, Duke, Texas Tech, Liberty, Samford and Jacksonville State. Tech swept The Citadel, 7-0, after dropping 4-1 decisions to No. 22 Stanford and California this past weekend.

Georgia Tech holds a 10-5 record at home this season, including five wins over currently ranked opponents. The Jackets defeated SMU on the road in their first match as ACC foes, 4-3, last season and hold a 21-0 all-time series lead over Boston College.

Christophe Clement leads the squad on Court 1 in both singles and doubles. The senior has totaled 10 singles wins this season, including six on Court 1. The underclassmen have impressed during the campaign, with freshman Hidde Schoenmakers securing seven singles wins on Courts 1-2 and sophomore Gianluca Carlini earning eight singles wins on Courts 2-3.

Jonathan Irwanto and Richard Biagiotti lead the team with 18 singles wins each, while Elias Shokry and Biagiotti have combined for a 19-11 record across the back two courts. Schoenmakers, Carlini and Biagiotti have each recorded three ACC singles wins, while Irwanto has added two.

Georgia Tech will close out the regular season at home versus Clemson on Friday, April 10. Seniors Christophe Clement and Robert Bauer will be honored for Senior Day.

Full Steam Ahead is a $500 million fundraising initiative to achieve Georgia Tech athletics’ goal of competing for championships at the highest level in the next era of intercollegiate athletics.
