THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis will send its freshman class to Tuscaloosa this weekend to wrap up the fall tournament schedule at the 29th Roberta Alison Fall Classic. Competition at the Alabama Tennis Stadium will take place Friday and Saturday and consist of 17 teams.
Schedule of Play
Friday will consist of one round of doubles and two rounds of singles play. Doubles action will get underway at 9 a.m. followed by singles action.
Two rounds of doubles play and one round of singles action will take place on Saturday, also beginning at 9 a.m.
Strong Field
A total of 17 teams will visit Tuscaloosa this weekend for the fall tournament, including Alabama State, Auburn, Chattanooga, Clemson, DePaul, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Memphis, Mercer, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Samford, Troy, Tulane, UAB, West Alabama and host Alabama.
Representing Georgia Tech will be Luca Fabian, Nadia Gizdova, Kenya Jones and Nami Otsuka. Jones brings a 7-4 singles mark into the weekend, while Gizdova is 5-3 on the fall season. Otsuka carries a 4-4 overall singles record this fall, while Fabian stands a 1-2.
Last Time Out
Tech had a strong showing last weekend at the ITA Southeast Regionals. Rasheeda McAdoo reached the quarterfinals of the main draw singles, while Jones reached the semifinal round of the singles backdraw.
