Jackets Return to Nashville for Vanderbilt Invitational

THE FLATS – After turning out career bests last weekend at the Commodore Invitational, Georgia Tech track and field returns to Nashville on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 20-21 to compete in the Vanderbilt Invitational.

Action on Friday kicks off at 5 p.m. EST/4 p.m. CT with the high jump. Competition on Saturday will start at 10:30 a.m. EST/9:30 a.m. CT with the 3000-meter run.

This is the second trip of the season to Vanderbilt for the Yellow Jackets. Last weekend Tech competed against four top-25 teams at the Commodore Invitational. Tech posted 10 career bests over the two-day meet.

For the women, senior hurdler Kenya Collins posted a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 8.37.

On the men’s side, freshman Benjamin Jean continued to impress following a first-place finish in the 500m in his freshman debut at the Orange and Purple Classic with a sixth-place finish at the Commodore Invitational in the 400-meter dash.

Tech will compete against two top-25 teams this weekend in Arkansas and South Carolina. Arkansas ranks fourth for the men and second for the women. South Carolina is No. 22 on the men’s side and No. 24 on the women’s.
