KENNESAW, Ga. – Tied 1-1 in the top of the 12th inning, freshman Crosby Huckabay came through with the game-winning hit to score Drew Puckett giving Georgia Tech softball (15-33) the 2-1 victory at Kennesaw State (32-16) on Tuesday evening at Bailey Park.

Quote
“I’m really proud of the team for battling today through 12 innings,” head coach Shelly Hoerner said. “I thought Emily Anderson kept them off balanced at the plate and our defense was solid behind her. Crosby Huckabay’s timely hit and Drew Puckett’s heads up base running were keys in the win as well.”

How it Happened
It was a pitcher’s duel into the top of the fifth when junior Kelsey Chisholm lifted her 10th home run of the season over the left field fence to lead off the inning and give Georgia Tech a 1-0 lead.

The Owls countered in the bottom of the same frame and rallied with two outs to string together three hits and score a run, knotting the game, 1-1.

The battle continued to the 12th inning when Tech took the lead. Kaylee Ellebracht led off with a walk and Drew Puckett entered the game to run. Puckett took second on a wild pitch, putting herself in scoring position.

Freshman Crosby Huckabay stepped to the plate and delivered a shot to center for an RBI-single to plate Puckett and give Tech the 2-1 advantage.

Anderson (7-13) picked up with win after pitching all 12 innings. She allowed one run on nine hits with no walks and eight strike outs.

Kennesaw State’s Alley Cutting was pinned with the loss. She surrendered two runs on six hits in 12 innings.
