ATLANTA — The defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion Georgia Tech softball team will host Young Harris College on Saturday afternoon at Glenn Field. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
“We are just working on a few things in this first fall outing,” said 2005 ACC Coach of the Year Ehren Earleywine. “Pitching is the main focus, in that we are just trying to see what we have. It will take several outings to figure that out, but each time out we will learn a little bit more.
“We have been working on 1st and 3rd defensive play this week and I’d like to see how we do with that in the scrimmage as well. I hope to control that aspect of it and let Young Harris start with first and third in several innings just to give us some work.
“This is a fun time for us and a real developmental stage as well. Everyone has things to address and they doing a great job of that right now.”
The Yellow Jackets won the ACC regular season and tournament championships in 2005. Tech welcomes five newcomers to the lineup and return All-ACC performers Amy Hosier, Caitlin Lever, Aileen Morales and Christine Sheridan.
The Jackets will play their only other fall game on Saturday, Oct. 22, as they host Wallace Dothan CC at 1 p.m. at Glenn Field.
