ATLANTA – After winning two of three games from the University of Virginia, Georgia Tech (28-9) will host archrival No. 11 Georgia (28-8) on Wednesday, March 29, for a non-conference doubleheader at Glenn Field. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
The Yellow Jackets and Bulldogs are atop the Atlantic Coast and Southeastern Conference standings. The Jackets are 5-1, while UGA stands at 9-3 and in first on the Eastern Division.
Tech defeated the Bulldogs 4-3 in regular season action last year in Athens, but was defeated 2-1 in the NCAA Athens Regional championship game to end Tech’s season. The Bulldogs lead the overall series 14-4.
Freshman Whitney Haller continues to lead the ACC with 12 home runs. The single season record for Georgia Tech is 16 by Tara Knudsen. Haller leads Tech with a .416 batting average, 40 RBI, .823 slugging percentage and 39 runs scored.
In the circle, junior Sarah Wood is 10-3, while sophomore Whitney Humphreys is 13-2. Wood has 58 strikeouts, while Humphreys leads the team with 69. Haller leads the ACC with five saves for the Yellow Jackets.
Tech will return to conference action this weekend as the Jackets travel to Tallahassee, Fla., for a three-game set with Florida State Saturday-Sunday.
