ATLANTA (March 15) — Gerorgia Tech fell to No. 29 Georgia 6-1 in men’s tennis action on Wednesday afternoon, March 15, in Athens. The match was clinched when Brandon Wagner of Georgia beat Tech’s Robert Wright in the No. 4 singles spot 6-1, 6-4.
Tech doubles pair of David Wright and Roger Anderson took Bulldogs Nicholas Boeker and Demetris Leontis to a tie-breaker before losing 9-8 (4) in the No. 3 doubles spot. The Jackets went on to lose all three doubles matches.
The only match to be won for Tech on the day was in the No. 5 singles match, where David Wright defeated the Dog’s Nicholas Boeker 6-4, 5-7. In the No. 6 spot, Fabio Campos of Tech and Demetris Leontis of Georgia went to three sets before Leontis came out the winner 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (7). The loss drops Georgia Tech’ s record to 5-7 (1-1 ACC). They will return home to host Furman at 2:30 p.m. on March 22.
