Jackets Fall to Huskies, 5-0

ATLANTA (Mar. 22) — Connecticut’s Meg Biddle and Claire Hesson combined on a three-hit shutout to lead the Huskies to a 5-0 win over Georgia Tech in collegiate softball action Wednesday at Glenn Field.

Sarah Sandford and Jess Yanosy provided back-to-back two-out, two-run hits as Connecticut (10-7) did all of its damage in the fourth inning.

The Yellow Jackets (15-19) tried to counter in the bottom of the fourth, loading the bases with no outs. Biddle struck out the next three batters to end the Tech threat.

Senior Anne Knobbe had two of the Jackets’ three hits, and senior Jamie Smith who pitched three innings of scoreless relief.

Biddle picked up the win for the Huskies going five innings, allowing just three hits while striking out five. She improved to 3-5 on the year.

Freshman Tiffany Goodman took the loss for the Jackets, falling to 7-11 on the season.

The Yellow Jackets return to action this weekend hosting the Buzz Classic at Al Bishop Softball Complex in Marietta, Ga.
