PANTHERSVILLE, Ga. – Despite an early lead for the Yellow Jackets, Georgia Tech softball fell to Georgia State, 5-2, in Panthersville on Wednesday evening.
Sophomore Rebecca Prairie started the Jackets off early, sending one out over the left field fence for the first home run of the season. Hitting in the four spot as the designated player, she scored junior Katie Krzus who reached on a walk for the 2-0 lead. The run was Prairie’s team-leading third run of the season.
The Panthers responded in the bottom of the first, knotting the score at 2-2 with three straight doubles. The Jackets couldn’t get anything going on offense in the second, leaving sophomore Crosby Huckabay on second, and Georgia State tallied a third run in the bottom of the second to take the lead.
Holding off the Jackets, the Panthers scored their final two runs in the bottom of the third. Senior pitcher Emily Anderson threw a complete game in the circle, with only two earned runs. The Jackets couldn’t get on the board on offense, saddling Anderson with the loss.
