THE FLATS – Despite an early lead, Georgia Tech softball (19-12) came up short to Georgia State (16-15), 3-2, on Wednesday night at Mewborn Field.

How it happened:
Sophomore Rebecca Prairie got the scoring going for the Jackets in the first. With junior Katie Krzus on first from a throwing error by the Panthers, Prairie knocked one out over left field for her fourth home run of the season, second against Georgia State, to give Tech the 2-0 lead in the first.

Senior Emily Anderson held Georgia State scoreless through four. The Panthers tied it up in the top of the fifth. After holding Tech’s 2-0 lead for three innings, Anderson gave up a walk to put a runner on base followed by a home run over left field to tie the game at 2-2.

The score stayed knotted at 2-2 heading into the seventh. Georgia State plated its final and the winning run off a double to center field.

The Jackets were unable to finish the rally, leaving runners on second and third in the bottom of the seventh as they fell, 3-2.

Up next:
Tech starts back up Atlantic Coast Conference action this weekend, hosting No. 14 Florida State for a three-game series Friday-Sunday, March 30-April 1 at Mewborn Field. All three games will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
