THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis will continue postseason action in Orlando this week as four members will compete in the individual NCAA Championships in singles and doubles. Both Victoria Flores and Kenya Jones will open singles action on Sunday. Flores and Jones will also compete in the doubles bracket, along with Gia Cohen and Ava Hrastar, which opens on Monday.

THE SCENE: The men’s and women’s singles round of 64 action begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 23. Flores and Jones both earned at-large bids based on their national rankings into the tournament. Jones, seeded No. 5 in the tournament, is ranked fifth nationally and climbed as high as No. 2 in March. She has led the Jackets from the No. 1 singles spot all season long and boasts a 19-9 overall singles ledger. She will open the tournament on Sunday at 10 a.m. facing Selin Ovunc of Auburn.

Flores, also a top 16 seed in the tournament, will face Kari Miller of Michigan at 10 a.m. on Sunday in the round of 64. An all-ACC second team selection, Flores is ranked No. 13 nationally. She owns a 19-6 overall singles record this season and has gone 13-4 from the No. 2 spot. Flores is making her first appearance in the individual NCAA Championships.

Flores and Jones have combined as one of the nation’s top doubles teams being ranked top five all season and currently ranked No. 3. The pair, seeded third in the NCAA tournament, carry a 23-3 overall doubles mark, including a 21-3 dual record. Flores and Jones spent two consecutive weeks ranked No. 1 in the country. They open the doubles round of 32 against Carmen Corley and Ivana Corley of Oklahoma on Monday.

Joining Flores and Jones in the doubles field, Tech’s Cohen and Hrastar will face the No. 4 seed of Makenna Jones and Elizabeth Scotty of North Carolina in the round of 32 on Monday. Sitting at No. 16 nationally, the pair went posted an 8-7 doubles record this season after partnering together for the first time in March.
