Jackets Complete Day One At World Famous Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. –
Sophomore Katie Townsend’s fifth place finish in the 10,000 meters highlighted the Georgia Tech track and field team’s first day Thursday at the world famous Penn Relays.

At the world’s oldest and largest relay carnival, Townsend shaved one minute and 23 seconds off her 10,000-meter time from a weekend ago for a personal-record time of 35:01.75.

Also on the track, Billy Koskiewicz took 10th in the open 5,000 meters with a career-best time of 14:44.85.

In the field events, Julienne McKee took sixth in the long jump championship out of 12 competitors with a leap of 6.00m (19-8.25). In the college women’s long jump Donjhae Jones and Jasmine Kent placed fourth and fifth, respectively.  Both jumped 5.95m (19-5.25).

Georgia Tech continues action Friday at the 119th Penn Relays, beginning with the men’s college high jump at 10 a.m.
