THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track & field began competition at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial on Friday beginning the weekend of split competition between Athens, Ga. and the Penn Relays.
At the Penn Relays, the Yellow Jackets competed in the women’s distance medley relay. The team of Claire Moritz, Haley Unthank, Riley Perlakowski and Nicole Fegans ran a time of 11:39.97.
In Athens, Lydia Troupe placed first among attached runners in the 400m hurdles clocking in at 1:01.54. Reese Crawford took a heat win with a time of 1:04.24.
The women’s high jump once again proved to be a point of pride for the Jackets with Carla Du Plessis placing third with a mark of 1.77m (5’9 ¾”) and Shanty Papakosta turned in a fifth place finish, clearing 1.72m (5’7 ¾”).
A trio of top 10 Yellow Jackets featured in the men’s 800m with Nick Nyman (1:52.17), Chris Cherono (1:53.08) and Zack Truitt (1:53.71) placing sixth, ninth and 10th, respectively.
The White and Gold continue the final regular season weekend at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial and Penn Relays on Saturday.
