Jackets Close Day One of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Georgia Tech track and field tallied two career bests on day one of the Penn Relays on Thursday. Competition continues on Friday and Saturday.

Hailey Gollnick took 13th in the women’s 3000m steeplechase with a lifetime-best performance of 10:29.04. Mary Prouty followed up with another career-best time in the 5000m of 17:09.15. Melissa Fairey took fifth in the 10000m run with a time of 34:50.77.

Alex Grady took 11th in the men’s 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:04.17. A trio of Jackets raced in the men’s 5000m. Matthew Munns posted a time of 14:38.04 in the 5000m while Tanner Shaw came in just one second later at 14:39.97. Christian Bowles crossed the line with a time of 14:42.68 in the 5000m. Nahom Solomon took eighth in the men’s 10000m with a time of 30:11.50. Jack Bordoni came in just behind him, registering a time of 30:58.96.
