THE FLATS – Georgia Tech softball (27-23, 12-9 ACC) makes its first postseason appearance since 2014 as the No. 6 seed in the 2018 ACC Softball Championship, hosting third-seeded North Carolina (29-25, 15-8 ACC) in the quarterfinals on Thursday, May 10th at Mewborn Field. First pitch is slated for 7:30 p.m. on RSN and ACC Network Extra.
The Tar Heels lead the all-time series 40-36 but the Jackets came away with the series win earlier this season. Tech snapped a nine-game losing streak to the Tar Heels with a sweep of the doubleheader at Mewborn Field to steal the series. It clinched the Jackets’ fourth ACC series victory, the first time Tech has reached that mark since 2012.
Tournament action kicked off on Wednesday with Syracuse/Louisville and Virginia Tech/Duke. See the full tournament bracket here. All nine games will be hosted at Mewborn Field, concluding on Saturday with the championship game at 12 p.m. on ESPN.
