ATLANTA – Powered by home runs by Kelsi Weseman and Hope Rush, the Georgia Tech softball team earned the series sweep of Boston College with a 4-0 shutout victory Sunday at Mewborn Field.
Rush, who also pitched the complete game shutout, earned her 12th victory of the season allowing just four hits and striking out three.
Tech earned its first lead of the game thanks to a three run blast over the rightfield wall by Kelsi Weseman in the third inning. Ashley Thomas and Kate Kuzma were standing on first and second when Weseman belted her fifth home run of the season for the 3-0 lead.
Tech added to the lead in the next inning as Hope Rush led off with a solo shot, her fifth of the year, over the left centerfield wall that cleared the scoreboard and gave the Jackets a 4-0 lead and victory.
The Jackets return to action for their first road games outside of the state of Georgia when they travel to Louisiana for a game Wednesday at LSU and a doubleheader with Louisiana-Lafayette, Thursday.
