ATLANTA – Junior Brittany Barnes was named Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday. Barnes, a native of Lawrenceville, Ga., earns the honor for first time this season.

Over the weekend against Virginia, Barnes exploded for three home runs and 10 RBIs in the doubleheader on Friday in a pair of five-inning wins, 12-3 and 15-0. On Saturday, Barnes went 3-for-4, with two doubles, to lead the Jackets to an 11-10 come-from-behind victory.

Barnes extended her hitting streak to a career-high seven games, and hit .500, with three home runs, two doubles, 10 RBIs, and posted a 1.188 slugging percentage.
