THE FLATS – Serving as one of the host sites, Georgia Tech concluded day one of the ITA Southeast Regional. Thursday’s action was comprised of qualifying rounds, Rohan Sachdev advanced through two rounds of singles play to secure a spot in the main draw. Robert Bauer and Elias Shokry were also in action today for the Yellow Jackets.
In singles action, Sachdev battled with Stetson’s Riccardo Baldi and claimed victory in the tie break [6-2,6-3(10-3)]. After advancing through the first match, Sachdev battled UGA’s Parker Mariencheck in straight sets [6-2,6-3] to seal a spot in the main draw.
Bauer and Sachdev saw action in doubles play today, however they fell short to GSU’s Pol Del Castillo and Dimitris Paliouras [8-4].
Shokry was in singles action today against UGA’s Davis Taylor, winning the match [7-5,6-3]. He would then go on to play a helluva match against UCF’s Paul Colin, losing in a super tiebreak [7-6 (9-7), 7-6(7-3), 10-6).
The action continues Friday, Oct.13 with doubles and singles main draw. Two rounds of doubles will kick off in the morning followed by one round of singles. Doubles will start at 8:30 a.m. and singles will begin at noon.
