THE FLATS – Georgia Tech indoor track and field begins its 2017-18 regular season this weekend when it heads to the Birmingham-Southern College Indoor Icebreaker in Alabama on Friday.
Highlighted by three events in Nashville, Tenn., and two in Clemson, S.C., the Yellow Jackets begin their seven-meet regular season on Friday with their one December meet that a select number of student-athletes will participate before the season gets fully underway in January.
Tech kicks off the new year at the Clemson’s Orange and Purple Classic on Jan. 6 before heading to Nashville for the Commodore Invitational on Jan. 12-13. The Jackets compete again in Nashville the following weekend for the Vanderbilt Invitational (Jan. 19-20) before heading back to Clemson for the Bob Pollock Invitational on Jan. 26-27.
Rounding out the regular season, Georgia Tech then competes in the Texas A&M Charlie Thomas Invitational (Feb. 2-3) and will have participants compete in the Tiger Paw Invitational (Clemson) and the Music City Challenge (Nashville) on Feb. 9-10.
Championship season will begin at the ACC Indoor Championships in Clemson, S.C., on Feb. 22-24 before it all leads to the NCAA Championships in College Station, Texas – where the Jackets will have already competed once in the Charlie Thomas Invite.
Both teams return a host of veteran talent for the indoor season, including Ksenia Novikova in pole vault and both Kenya Collins and Jeanine Williams in hurdles for the women as well as Avery Bartlett in distance and William Solomon in the triple jump for the men.
