Hourigan, McAdoo Travel to Bulldog Classic

Oct. 9, 2014

Singles Draw

THE FLATS – Freshman Paige Hourigan and sophomore Rasheeda McAdoo of the Georgia Tech women’s tennis team will compete this weekend in Athens, Ga. at the Bulldog Tennis Classic.

The tournament, which features players from Georgia, East Carolina, Lipscomb, Missouri and Wisconsin, will feature a 32-player singles draw and a round-robin of doubles matches.

The action will commence with first round singles matches at 9 a.m. EST on Friday. Second round singles matches will then be played at noon before the opening day draws to a close with doubles play at 3 p.m. The full schedule of the tournament is listed below.

McAdoo is a 5-8 seed in the singles draw and received a first round bye in the main draw. She will face the winner of East Carolina’s Michelle Castro and Lipscomb’s Deahna Welcher at noon on Friday. McAdoo is undefeated this fall season in singles after she went 3-0 at the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Invitational in September.

Hourigan is slated to face Lipscomb’s Laura Kent at 9 a.m. on Friday in the first round of singles. Hourigan is 2-1 so far this season in singles play. After falling in her first match at the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Invitational, Hourigan bounced back to win the next two in her first collegiate tournament.

As a doubles pair, Hourigan and McAdoo are a perfect 3-0 on court one after winning all of their matches against LSU, Georgia State and N.C. State during the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Invitational. The duo was named the MVP doubles team at the tournament.
