Hourgian, McAdoo Finish Up Day Two at Bulldog Classic

ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia Tech women’s tennis freshman Paige Hourigan advanced to the singles main draw semifinals at the Bulldog Tennis Classic in Athens, Ga. while sophomore Rasheeda McAdoo fell in the singles quarterfinals on Saturday.

Hourigan took down Georgia’s Laura Patterson in a thrilling three-set match. After falling to Patterson, 6-2, in set one, Hourigan rebounded to win set two, 7-5. In set three, Hourgian won the tiebreaker, 7-6 (3) to clinch the win and advance to the semifinals.

Hourigan will face the number one seed of the tournament tomorrow, Mariana Gould.

Against Georgia’s Caroline Brinson, the overall number two seed, McAdoo fell in a tight first set, 7-6 (5). Brinson won set two, 6-2.

The duo paired up to win their second-straight doubles match of weekend and their fifth-straight of the season. McAdoo and Hourigan defeated Lipscomb’s Melissa Kromer and Laura Kent, 8-5, to stay undefeated at 5-0. 

Action tomorrow begins with doubles at 9 a.m. The singles semifinals will begin at 9:30 a.m.
