Herren, Narewski Named To <i>ESPN The Magazine</i>/CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech graduate students David Herren and Taylor Narewski have been tabbed to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District III men’s track & field/cross country second team it was announced Thursday.

Herren, who received his master’s degree in health systems this May, is a four-time Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll selection for achieving a 3.0 GPA or better each year at Georgia Tech. Herren is also a two-time member of the All-ACC Academic Cross Country team.

Herren finished the track season with a personal-best time of 1:54.03 in the outdoor 800-meters. He ran a leg of the All-ACC DMR team that clocked a time of 9:52.83 at the ACC Indoor Championships for a third-place finish. In cross country, Herren garnered his first appearance at the NCAA Championships after placing 11th at the 2007 NCAA South Region Championships. His finish earned him All-South Region honors.

Narewski, a four-time ACC Academic Honor Roll selection, earned his master’s degree in public policy in May. Narewski is a sprinter for the Yellow Jackets and serves as vice-chair of Tech’s Honor Advisory Council. He helped the men’s indoor track & field team to a second-place finish at the 2008 ACC Indoor Championships, the program’s best finish since 1988.

Herren and Narewski were also named recipients of ACC postgraduate scholarships earlier this year.
