Halston Lane Announces Intent to Transfer

March 13, 2002

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech basketball player Halston Lane, who just completed his sophomore season with the Rambling Wreck, has announced his intention to transfer to another institution.

Lane, a 6-5 wing player from Oak Ridge, Tenn., played in every game this season, starting three, and averaged 6.1 points and 2.6 rebounds. He averaged 6.8 points as a freshman.

“While I have enjoyed my two years at Georgia Tech, I feel it is in my best interest to transfer to another school,” said Lane. “I have learned a lot about basketball from Coach [Paul] Hewitt and I appreciate the opportunities he gave me, but I think that I would be better suited to a different style of play.

“I have nothing but good feelings about Georgia Tech and my teammates and coaches, and I wish them luck next season.”

Lane will complete the spring semester at Tech before transferring.

Tech head coach Paul Hewitt, whose Yellow Jackets just completed a 15-16 campaign but won eight of their last 11 games, said, “Halston has been an important member of our program the last two years. I wish him nothing but the best as he moves on to further his education and basketball career.”
