The flats – The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team hosts Flagler in an exhibition contest at 2 p.m. on Sunday at McCamish Pavilion.

The exhibition game is the first action on the Yellow Jackets’ 2014-15 schedule.  Doors open at 1 p.m. and tickets for adults can be purchased for $2, with all proceeds benefiting the Adopt-A-Family Association. All children 18 and under will be admitted free to the exhibition game.  

New Season on Deck
The 2014-15 season marks the 12th under the direction of head coach MaChelle Joseph and the 40th year of Georgia Tech women’s basketball. The Yellow Jackets return six letterwinners and three starters from last year’s squad that recorded the seventh 20 win season and seventh NCAA Tournament appearance under Coach Joseph. Tech welcomes six freshmen to this year’s team that are a part of Prospect Nation’s 11th ranked recruiting class.

SUNDAY IS KIDS DAY! 
During the regular season, every Sunday will be Kids Day. Kids 18 and under receive free admission to the game and get to sit in a designated Kids Zone area. There will be a pre-game Kids Zone that will feature inflatables, a D.J., Georgia Tech cheerleaders and more. Fans will have a chance to meet the Jackets during post-game autograph session on Sundays as well.

Scouting flagler
Flagler competes in the Peach Belt Conference and was picked to finish 10th in league’s preseason coache’s poll. The lone returning starter is preseason all-conference selection Treva Mason. Allie Mano is a veteran returner in a brand new backcourt. The Saints have eight newcomers. 

approaching milestones
Joseph enters her 12th season at the helm of the Yellow Jackets with a career record of 213-134. Joseph is 11 wins away from becoming the all-time winningest coach in Georgia Tech history. Former coach Agnus Berenato is currently the all-time winningest coach with a record of 223-209 in 15 seasons. 

Georgia Tech has 588 program wins, putting them 12 wins away from reaching the 600 win milestones. 

on the way to 1,000
Two Yellow Jackets are closing in on 1,000 career points. Senior Sydney Wallace has 831 career points putting her 169 points shy from becoming the 27th Yellow Jacket to achieve the feat. Sophomore Kaela Davis has 594 career points, which makes her 406 points away from 1,000. Davis has played in 32 career games. The record for the fastest player to reach 1,000 points is 55 games.

preseason all-acc
Sophomore guard Kaela Davis was selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and the ACC head coaches. Davis was a member of the 2014 All-ACC Second team and the 2014 All-ACC Freshman Team. Davis set the single season scoring record for a freshman in Georgia Tech history with 594 points last season, which ranks third on GT’s all-time list for points in a single season. Her 594 points also set the ACC freshman scoring record. Davis led all ACC rookies last season with 18.6 points per game and was honored as the ACC Rookie of the Week four times. 

tech picked seventh
Georgia Tech was picked to finish seventh in the ACC in both the ACC media and coaches polls. The Yellow Jackets have finished seventh in the ACC in the past two seasons.

U20 european championships
Three Yellow Jackets competed in the U20 European Championships this summer. Katarina Vuckovic represented Serbia while Antonia Peresson played for Italy in the U20 Division A European Championship in Udine, Italy. Simina Avram played for Romania in the Division B European Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria. Vuckovic and Peresson squared off against each other twice. Peresson aided Italy to a bronze medal victory against Serbia.

Vuckovic, Peresson and Avram are three of 12 total international players that Joseph has recruited to the Flats.

The Yellow Jackets hit the road to open up the 2014-15 regular season, traveling to Loyola Chicago on Nov. 14.
