THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s basketball season ticket holders were treated to an exclusive look at the 2014-15 Yellow Jackets at McCamish Pavilion Thursday night.
After watching the last portion of afternoon practice, fans heard from a pair of Georgia Tech legends – head coach Bobby Cremins and Dennis Scott — in the Callaway Club. Scott, now an analyst at Turner and NBA TV, spoke of how Georgia Tech became his family during his time on The Flats, including the memorable 1990 Final Four run.
Cremins, now retired from coaching, regaled the audience with some of his favorite memories, including Scott’s miraculous steal and buzzer-beating three-pointer to beat North Carolina in 1989.
Brandon Gaudin then introduced each member of this season’s squad, followed by a Q&A with head coach Brian Gregory. The fourth-year head coach told the audience that he’s encouraged by the team’s offseason work ethic and chemistry as they prepare for this upcoming campaign.
The Jackets open their season two weeks from tonight with Georgia at McCamish Pavilion. They’ll host an exhibition next Friday night with Clayton State at 7 p.m. (Note: the exhibition was moved from October 31 to November 7.)
