@GT_WTEN Set to Begin NCAA Regionals

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 17 Georgia Tech women’s tennis squad is heading to South Carolina for a match against Princeton in the first round of NCAA Regionals. The match will begin at 2 p.m. at the Carolina Tennis Center on the campus of the University of South Carolina, and the winner of the match will face either South Carolina or Winthrop in the second round.

First- and second-round competition takes place May 13-14 and features four teams playing in a single-elimination format. The winner of each site advances to the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla., where the 16 teams will compete for the national championship May 19-24. The event will be hosted by The University of Tulsa.

“We are excited to be playing a very good opponent on Friday in Princeton,” head coach Rodney Harmon said. “Our practices have gone well so we are hoping to play our best. It should be a great match.”

The Jackets will face a Princeton squad (13-9) that won the outright Ivy League title with a conference record of 5-2. The Tigers also have seven wins over ranked opponents this season. Georgia Tech is coming off of a semifinal appearance in the ACC Tournament, and the Jackets finished with a 17-8 record in the season.
