TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The #18 Georgia Tech women’s tennis team finished up play at the Mal Moore Invitational at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility on the campus of Alabama.
Freshman Alexis Prokopuik went undefeated in both singles and doubles play on the final day of competition. Prokopuik paired up with sophomore Rasheeda McAdoo to win in doubles and Prokopuik defeated her singles opponent in straight-sets.
Freshman Johnnise Renaud and sophomore Natasha Prokhnevksa stayed undefeated this weekend in doubles with a win today as well. Junior Kendal Woodard and freshman Paige Hourigan fell in their doubles match.
Hourigan was victorious in singles, winning in straight-sets. Sophomore Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer also won in two sets. Sophomore Megan Kurey won her first set in singles, fell in set two but bounced back to win the tiebreaker. Woodard edged her opponent in a close first set but then cruised to victory in set two. Prokopuik won against her opponent in straight-sets.
McAdoo fell in a tiebreaker after splitting sets with her opponent in singles, while Prokhnevska fell in two sets. Renaud and her opponent did not play their singles match.
The Yellow Jackets return to the Flats to host the NCAA Kickoff Weekend on Jan. 24 and 25. Match times are set for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex. Georgia Tech, Columbia, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech will all compete that weekend. On Friday, Georgia Tech faces Columbia at 10 a.m.
