AUBURN, Ala. – The Georgia Tech track & field squad will compete Friday and Saturday at the Tiger Track Classic, hosted by Auburn University.
“We’re looking forward to this weekend’s Tiger Track Classic at Auburn,” head men’s coach Grover Hinsdale said. “As solid as this meet has been for the last several years, it looks to be even more competitive this year. It will provide a great opportunity for our team members, and we look forward to the challenge.”
On the men’s side, the two to watch will be Avery Bartlett and Spencer Allen. Bartlett, a freshman from Tallahassee, Fla., won the 1500m event at the Yellow Jacket Invite last month, and will look to finish high in the event this week. Allen, a senior from Ina, Ill., has two top-five finishes in the 110m hurdles thus far in the outdoor season.
On the women’s side, Kenya Collins has thrived in both the 100m hurdles and the long jump this season, finishing third in both events at the Yellow Jacket Invite. The junior from Jonesboro, Ga., will compete in both events this weekend.
“This weekend’s competition at Auburn will be a great opportunity for our women to compete in a lot of events and to challenge themselves to perform at a high level every time out,” head women’s coach Alan Drosky said. “We’ve been making progress each week, focusing on being the best we can every time we compete. I’m looking forward to seeing some outstanding performances.”
