Jan. 28, 2016

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Georgia Tech track & field team will be back in action Jan. 29-30 as they travel to Nashville for the Vanderbilt Invite. It will be the second of three indoor meets at Vanderbilt this season.

The Jackets are coming off of a solid performance last week in Birmingham at the Conference Clash, where freshman Bria Matthews set a venue record and now sits second nationally in the triple jump after a leap of 13.33.

Spencer Allen also stood out last weekend, finishing fifth in the 60m hurdles while setting a personal-best in the prelims with a time of 7.92. Freshman Avery Bartlett was solid, as well, finishing seventh in the 800m with a time of 1:51.99.

Jeremy Greenwald will be back in action this week after sitting out last week’s meet in Birmingham. Greenwald previously set the school record in the 3000m the last time the team competed at Vanderbilt.

The field in Nashville will feature conference foe NC State, as well as Michigan, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Tennessee. Friday’s events will begin at 4 p.m. ET, while Saturday’s events will begin at 10 a.m. ET.
