GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Georgia Tech track & field squad completed Day 2 of the Florida Relays on Friday night, and Donjhae Jones was able to come away with a victory in the process.
Jones, a senior from Valdosta, Ga., finished first in the long jump event with a mark of 6.17 (20-03.00), which is a personal best. Hailey Gollnick also stood out for the women, finishing 11th in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 10:51.77.
On the men’s side, there were several performers who stood out to head men’s coach Grover Hinsdale.
“We had some nice performances today,” said Hinsdale. “The wind was pretty tough for the oval races, but I was pleased with the performances of A.Z. Reese in the 400m and Julian Darden in the 400m IH. Also, Nico Metzler in the 1500m as well as Alex Grady and Miles Dayoub in the 300m Steeplechase ran significant PRs tonight. William Solomon had a good series in the long jump, as well.”
Reese finished 28th out of a strong field of 61 in the 400m with a time of 47.98, while Darden finished 40th with a time of 54.43 in the 400m hurdles. Metzler finished 34th in the 1500m with a time of 3:50.91, while Grady (9:16.20) and Dayoub (9:30.01) finished 15th and 22nd in the 3000m Steeplechase, respectively.
