THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech volleyball team took to the court to showcase its 2016 edition at the Gold/White Scrimmage in front a great crowd at O’Keefe Gymnasium on Saturday.
“I’m very pleased overall,” head coach Michelle Collier said. “I’m really liked the way we blocked and played defense. I think it was great to be able to see everybody in different lineups and different situations. It was good to put them in a little bit of pressure with this environment as we get closer to game day and help them get the anxiety out of the way.
“But overall they did a lot of good things. It was the first time we played five sets since we started the preseason and we’ve been working hard. This was a great start.”
The team played a full five sets with the gold team winning all five sets with five different lineups (25-21, 25-20, 25-15, 25-17, 15-5).
The Jackets’ first match is Aug. 26 at Auburn in the War Eagle Invitational, followed by a pair of matches against Pacific and Furman on Aug. 27. The Yellow Jackets kick off their 2016 home slate when they host Georgia, Georgia State and Kennesaw State in the Georgia Challenge on Sept. 8-9.
