Once a week, RamblinWreck.com will introduce you to one of Georgia Tech’s seven women’s basketball freshmen as we get ready to tip-off the 2012-13 season Nov. 11 against Tennessee at McCamish Pavilion.

Kym Ellison is a 5-7 guard from Hardaway High School in Columbus, Ga. Ellison captained the Hardaway basketball team in each of her four seasons on the team and put up more than 1,000 points in her prep career. She was named an honorable mention to the Georgia Sports Writers Association’s class AAAA all-state team in her senior season and she played in the Georgia North-South All-Star game.
In addition to her success on the basketball court, Ellison also participated in volleyball, soccer, and tennis during her time at Hardaway. In the classroom Ellison continued to succeed by becoming a member of the Spanish Honor Society, the National Honor Society, the Math Honor Society, and graduated in the top five percent of her class.
Ellison has one sister, Kelly, who played basketball for three years at Shorter College in Rome, Ga. Ellison chose Georgia Tech because of its great athletic program and location. Ellison plans to major in business administration at Tech.

What career do you want to pursue after Georgia Tech?
Business owner.
Why did you choose Georgia Tech?
I loved the atmosphere and it provides a great education.
What team would you really like to see on the schedule?
Hawaii.
What is your highest personal and team goal?
Winning an NCAA Championship and being named to the All-ACC Academic Team.
