@GeorgiaTechFB Releases 2016 Schedule

Jan. 26, 2016

THE FLATS – Home games against Miami, Clemson and Vanderbilt, along with an opening weekend date in Ireland against Boston College highlight Georgia Tech’s 2016 football schedule, which was announced on Tuesday.

The Yellow Jackets will host seven games at Bobby Dodd Stadium for the fifth time in six years, including a Thursday night showdown versus national runner-up Clemson. Tech’s home schedule kicks off Sept. 10 versus Mercer and also includes Georgia Southern, Duke and Virginia.

When the Tigers visit on Sept. 22, it will mark Georgia Tech’s 32nd appearance on the ESPN Thursday Night package and its 24th home game. No team in college football has played or hosted more since the network launched Thursday Night games in the early 1990s.

Season tickets for the 2016 season are now on sale for as low as $35 per game. For more information, visit TogetherWeSwarm.com or call 1-888-TECH-TIX.

Tech battles Boston College in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic on Saturday, Sept. 3 at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. It will mark the ninth college football game to be held in Ireland and the first time the Yellow Jackets have ever played internationally. Head Coach Paul Johnson was Navy’s offensive coordinator when the Midshipmen played Notre Dame in Dublin in 1996.

Tickets for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, Feb. 3 and can be purchased through ticketmaster.com. The game will kick off at 7:30 a.m. ET and air live on ESPN2.

Following the BC game, Tech is home for four consecutive weeks at Bobby Dodd Stadium – a stretch that includes a renewal of the rivalry versus Vanderbilt (Sept. 17). Tech leads the series 19-15-3, but the former SEC foes have not met since 2009.

The second half of Tech’s slate is book-ended by in-state rivalry games versus Georgia Southern (Oct. 15 at Bobby Dodd Stadium) and at Georgia (Nov. 26). In between, the Yellow Jackets face four straight ACC Coastal Division opponents: Duke, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Virginia.

Tech is set to battle three in-state opponents – Mercer, Georgia Southern and Georgia – for the first time since the 1914 season. That season featured games versus Georgia, Mercer and Fort McPherson.

Georgia Tech’s annual Spring Game is set for Saturday, April 23 at 12 p.m. ET at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
