THE FLATS — The eighth-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team opens the 2017 ACC Championship on Friday at 4 p.m. facing Wake Forest, the #6 seed. The tournament is being played at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Georgia.

THE SCENE: After earning a share of the ACC regular season title, Georgia Tech seeks its fifth ACC championship this weekend. The Yellow Jackets, seeded third in the tournament, wrapped up the regular season with a 13-1 ledger in league play and enter the tournament with a 23-3 overall record. Tech suffered its first ACC loss of the season at Duke to close out league play.

Last season, the Jackets defeated Notre Dame to open tournament play and suffered a loss to Miami in the semifinals. Under the guidance of head coach Rodney Harmon, Tech owns a 6-4 record in the ACC tournament.

On Thursday, four Jackets received All-ACC honors as Rasheeda McAdoo and Johnnise Renaud were named to the first team, while Paige Hourigan picked up second team honors and freshman Nami Otsuka earned a spot on the third team. For the second consecutive season, Harmon was named the ACC Coach of the Year.
