ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech softball team (2-0) will host Troy University (5-0) for a single game on Valentine’s Day, Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Glenn Field. The non-conference game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start. All home games are free admission and can be followed on www.ramblinwreck.com.
The Yellow Jackets swept Georgia Southern on Saturday, 7-2 and 8-0 (6), in their season opener. Tech has won three of the last four games against Troy, but dropped the last game, 8-2, at Glenn Field on May 9, 2005, after winning game one, 4-2.
The Trojans are undefeated this season, winning the Lion Softball Classic, in Hammond, La., last weekend. Troy is hitting .325 as a team and is scoring 5.6 runs per game. The Trojans lead the series with the Jackets, 12-10.
Tech is batting .319 as a team and averages 7.5 runs per game. The Jackets’ pitching staff has yet to allow an earned run in 13.0 innings pitched and have fanned 15.
The Rambling Wreck are 51-11 over their last 62 games at Glenn Field for an astonishing .823 winning percentage. Tech will hit the road this weekend as the Jackets travel to Kennesaw, Ga., for the Kennesaw State Softball Invitational. Tech will face Georgetown (2 p.m.) and Miami University (6 p.m.) on Saturday, and Evansville (4 p.m.) and Kennesaw State (6 p.m.) on Sunday.
