ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech volleyball team will host the ACC/SEC Challenge this weekend, as four members from each conference participate in a battle between the top two leagues in the southeast.
Matches will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and conclude with the featured match of the day, Georgia Tech vs. Alabama, at 5:30 p.m. Admission for all matches is free, and t-shirts will be given away to the first 200 fans in attendance.
Joining the Yellow Jackets from the Atlantic Coast Conference will be Duke, Florida State and Virginia, all of which finished in the top five in the league last season, and they will be facing Auburn and NCAA Tournament participants Alabama, Ole Miss and Tennessee from the Southeastern Conference.
“We have had a strong spring campaign,” said Georgia Tech head coach Bond Shymansky, “and the team has been making some great strides. We are looking forward to hosting such a competitive tournament this weekend to use as a gauge of our team’s progress. This tournament will be a good measuring stick as to how far we have come.”
