Georgia Tech volleyball standouts Jayme Gergen and Lauren Sauer were each named to the Academic all-District III volleyball second team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
To be eligible for the Academic all-District teams, a player must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better and be a starter or important reserve.
Gergen, a senior from Topeka, Kansas, is a first-time honoree who maintains a 3.54 GPA in Psychology. She is the starting middle blocker for the volleyball team, which currently has a 21-5 record. A two-time Atlantic Coast Conference player of the week this season, Gergen is sixth on Tech’s career total block list (439) and is currently ranked 12th in the nation in hitting percentage (.406).
Sauer, a senior from Huntsville, Ala., is a second-time honoree who maintains a 3.58 grade point average in Management. A two-time all-ACC selection, Sauer is a starting outside hitter who currently is second on the team in kills (368) and is ranked seventh in the ACC in kills per game (4.49) and stands in fifth place on the Georgia Tech career kill list.
