The Georgia Tech volleyball team returned to the gym this week for their annual spring practice. In addition to team practice, the Yellow Jackets, who return 10 players from last years squad, will compete in three competitions over the course of the next seven weeks.
Tech’s first competition will be March 18 when the team hosts Georgia State and South Carolina in O’Keefe Gymnasium. The Yellow Jackets will then compete on April 1st in O’Keefe Gym facing Florida at 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. followed by its final tournament on April 8 against Mississippi, Georgia State, Alabama and Chattanooga in O’Keefe Gym.
“We are working hard to develop our offensive system this spring and get more experience for our young team,” said head coach Bond Shymansky, who begins his fifth season at the helm of the Jackets. “We have a great positive attitude within our team to regain our dominance on the court and reestablish our aggresive style of play. Our freshman setter, Allie Niekamp, will be taking over the reigns of our offense and she is already showing why she was one of the top setters in her class. We expect all of our other returning starters to continue to increase their abilities and really gel as a team this spring.”
