THE FLATS –  Georgia Tech softball (15-12, 2-4 ACC) will head to Troy (21-7-1, 2-0-1 SBC) for its second straight Sun Belt midweek tilt on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET in Troy, Ala.

Storylines

  • Georgia Tech has downed all three Sun Belt opponents faced this season, including Georgia State, Southern Miss and Georgia Southern.
  • The Yellow Jackets outmatched the Panthers [10-1 (5)] and Eagles [11-3 (5)] for mercy-rule victories, including the latter as recently as last week.
  • Tech also topped Southern Miss by way of a 1-0 shutout earlier this season.
  • Senior right hander Blake Neleman has moved into second all-time in career strikeouts, also becoming the second Yellow Jacket ever to surpass 500 career strikeouts. She moved to 501 over the weekend.
  • On the season, Neleman (93) and Dennis (60) have combined for 153 strikeouts.
  • Defense has gone hand in hand with work from the circle this season as the Jackets are second in the ACC and ninth in the NCAA in fielding percentage (.980).
  • The Yellow Jackets have also been aggressive as a unit on the base path, ranking third in the conference and 24th in the nation in triples per game (.33).
  • On top of marching through Tech’s record books in strikeouts, Neleman has picked up a pair of saves this season, moving up to six in her career as she’s now in an eight-way tie for third in program history in career saves.
  • Amongst the conference this season, Neleman is third in the ACC with 93 punchouts.
  • Racking up wins as of late, Dennis is now third in the ACC with nine victories in the circle.
  • Swatting a career-high third triple on the season against Georgia Southern, senior catcher Emma Kauf is currently second in the ACC and 26th in the NCAA in triples.
  • Sophomore righty Kinsey Norton has also been effective in both of her save situations this season, cashing in on both opportunities as she and Neleman are tied for fifth in the conference.

Series Notes

  • The all-time series between Georgia Tech and Troy is currently tied, 15-15.
  • The Yellow Jackets took care of the Trojans in their last matchup, winning 8-1 on The Flats a season ago.
  • The White and Gold have also taken three of the last four contests dating back to 2016.
  • Tech currently owns a 7-5 advantage on the road against Troy.
