Georgia Tech Softball Set For 2013 Fall Season

Sep 4, 2013

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech softball team is set to play eight games throughout the month of October this fall. The Jackets, who have begun fall practice, open their fall slate Sunday, Oct. 6 at Kennesaw State with a double header against the Owls and North Georgia, beginning at 2 p.m.

The Jackets will play the next three weekends at home, beginning with two games Oct. 13 against Georgia Gwinnett College at 1 p.m. Tech then welcomes Samford to Mewborn Field for a doubleheader Oct. 20 starting at 4 p.m.

Georgia Tech wraps up its fall schedule against Georgia. The Jackets and Bulldogs square off in two games Oct. 27 with first pitch set at 2 p.m.

First year Georgia Tech head coach Shelly Hoerner takes the reigns of a program that finished the 2013 season 25-30 overall, captured three Atlantic Coast Conference championships over the last five years and produced the last four ACC Player of the Year selections.

The Jackets return 2013 ACC Player of the Year Ashley Thomas and All-ACC first team honoree Alysha Rudnik, along with the entire defense from a season ago. Tech lost one starter from 2013 in All-American pitcher Hope Rush, but returns two players to the circle in junior Kylie Kleinschmidt and sophomore Ashley Clifton, and welcomes newcomer Kanani Cabrales to the mound.

Admission is free for all fall softball games at Mewborn Field.
