Georgia Tech Softball Announces 2019 Schedule

THE FLATS – Two home tournaments and four Atlantic Coast Conference series highlight Georgia Tech softball’s 2019 schedule, which was announced on Monday.

The Yellow Jackets’ 56-game slate includes 27 home contests, featuring three-game ACC series versus Virginia (March 15-17), Duke (March 29-31), Pittsburgh (April 12-14) and Syracuse (April 26-28). The Jackets also host five 2018 NCAA tournament participants in nonconference action including archrival Georgia (March 6).

“I’m looking forward to getting back out on the field this spring,” said head coach Aileen Morales. “I think we built a good foundation last year, competing in the conference tournament and finding success at home and on the road. We spent the fall season working on our game and getting to see a lot of our new players in action. Our team is ready to get back out there and start competing.”

Tech opens its season in Jacksonville, Fla. at the River City Leadoff (Feb. 8-10), where it will play Providence, UMass-Lowell and Jacksonville in the first of four nonconference tournaments.

The Jackets open their home slate by hosting cross-city rival Georgia State (Feb. 13) before hosting Michigan State and Illinois for the ACC/Big 10 Challenge (Feb. 15-17). The White and Gold will also host Fordham, Hofstra and Western Carolina at Mewborn Field for the I-75 Challenge (March 1-3).

In addition to Georgia and Georgia State, the Jackets host Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State and Mercer.

Aside from the four home conference series, Tech will play on the road against Virginia Tech (March 8-10), North Carolina (March 22-24), Louisville (April 19-21) and Notre Dame (May 3-5).

The season culminates with the ACC Softball Championship May 8-11 in Tallahassee, Fla.
