Georgia Tech #ProJackets Basketball Report

THE FLATS — Iman Shumpert and the Houston Rockets face the Warriors in a pivotal game three in the second round of the NBA Playoffs,  Anthony Morrow signs a deal to play with the Big3, and Josh Okogie visits the Atlanta United facility   That and more in this edition of the Georgia Tech #ProJackets Basketball Report.

Derrick Favors finished the season averaging 11.8 points per contest to go along with 7.4 rebounds. The Jazz lost in the first round of the NBA Playoffs to the Houston Rockets, 4-1, after finishing the regular season with a 50-32 record. Favors also helped the Jazz finish with one of the best home records turning in a 29-12 record while at home.

Shumpert and the Rockets will face the Warriors in game three on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. He has averaged 12 minutes per contest in two games against the Warriors and bringing in two rebounds per game as well. The Rockets defeated the Jazz in five games and now await the winner of the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers matchup. Shumpert averaged 7.5 points per game during the regular season and will look to be a factor in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Young finished his postseason run averaging 10.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Young and the Pacers and fell at the hands of the Boston Celtics in four games. For his career, he has averaged 11.1 points per game in the playoffs.

Okogie and the Minnesota Timberwolves finished the regular season in 11th with a record of 36-46. During the offseason, Okogie visited the Atlanta United to show his support to another fellow Atlanta team.

CBSSports.com reported before Christmas that Marcus Georges-Hunt underwent knee surgery and would miss extended playing time for the Maine Red Claws in the G League, though there has been very little reported about it. Georges-Hunt had averaged 13.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals over 36 minutes per game in nine games for the Red Claws.

Jarrett Jack and the Sioux Falls Skyforce finished the regular season with a 24-26 record and in 8th in the Western Conference in the G-League. The Skyforce missed the playoffs and lost their final game to the Rio Grande Valley, 105-99.

Morrow will join the likes of Josh Smith, Will Bynum on the Bivouac squad, and will be coached by Reggie Theus. The Big3 looks to a new broadcast partner in CBS and will add four new teams, including the Bivouac team.

Joshua Heath (5’11”-PG-94, graduated ’17, plays in Turkey) contributed to a 3-point Ankara D.S.I.‘s victory against the closely-ranked Bandirma Kirmizi (11-18) 88-85 in the Turkish TBL (second division) in Saturday night’s game. He scored 10 points, made 4 passes and 3 steals (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line). Ankara D.S.I. (10-19) is placed 14th in the TBL. It was his team’s third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Heath has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 15.7ppg, 4.0rpg, 6.1apg, and 2.3spg in nine games he played so far.
