Derrick Favors and the Utah Jazz went through a brutal stretch of road games, facing Boston, Cleveland, Houston and Oklahoma City before returning home to host San Antonio. While Utah went 2-3 during the week, it did secure wins over the Celtics and Spurs. Favors was held out due to an injury against the Cavs and Rockets, but returned to put up 14 points and grab nine rebounds in the 100-89 win over the Spurs. The Jazz will have another shot at the Thunder, this time in Utah, on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 8 p.m.
Marcus Georges-Hunt re-emerged in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ rotation on Dec. 14 when he played 17 minutes, recording five points on 2-of-3 shooting. Since then, his minutes have hovered around six per game as the Wolves have gone 3-1 since the Dec. 14 win over Sacramento. Georges-Hunt is taking it one game at a time as he tries to make his way into the main rotation.
Jarrett Jack has strung together three-straight 12-point games while also gathering 14 total assists and 16 total rebounds over the stretch. With the Knicks going 4-1 over their last five games, Jack continues to lead them with to a total team effort that has helped them with the off-and-on injuries to Kristaps Porzingis and the emergence of Michael Beasley and Enes Kanter.
Iman Shumpert continues to recover from a knee injury ultimately required arthroscopic surgery on Dec. 1. The Cleveland Cavaliers announced that he is expected to miss six to eight weeks. Shumpert had missed five of the previous six games before the decision was made.
Despite battling a nagging knee injury, Thaddeus Young continues to be Mr. Reliable for the Indiana Pacers. While the team split its games, 2-2, last week, Indiana did get a key win over Atlanta, 105-95, where Young was able to pull down eight rebounds. Young is listed as day-to-day with his injury and is probable to play in their next game against Brooklyn on Dec. 23 at 7 p.m.
