THE FLATS — With the start of the month of August comes the final two months of the regular season, as playoff spots loom across all of professional baseball.
In the Major Leagues, Charlie Blackmon has stayed hot since returning to Colorado after the all-star break, as he is hitting .355 with four home runs, eight RBIs and 14 runs scored over his last 15 games, while Derek Dietrich picked up his 100th hit of the season earlier this week.
Rookie Daniel Palka used the all-star break to his advantage, as he is hitting .333 with three home runs, five RBIs and five runs scored over his last seven games for the Chicago White Sox, while right-handed hurler Brandon Cumpton was called up to the MLB by the Toronto Blue Jays. (Read Here)
In the minor leagues, Joey Bart continues to impress as he was named to the MLB Pipeline Team of the Week and has totaled nine home runs, 10 doubles and 25 RBIs in just 27 professional games, while Matthew Gorst was promoted to the Pawtucket Red Sox (Triple A) in the Boston Red Sox organization.
