ATLANTA – The baseball game featuring nationally-ranked Georgia Tech and Georgia at Turner Field this week has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 11th at 7:06 p.m. CSS will televise the game live.
The event, billed as the “2006 Spring Baseball Classic for Kids,” benefits Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). Due to impending inclement weather, the game has been rescheduled from its original date of May 10th. All tickets and parking passes for this year’s event remain valid.
The Yellow Jackets are 36-12 and ranked as high as ninth nationally, while the Bulldogs are 31-16 and ranked 16th. The series is tied 1-1 this year. This marks the fourth year the clubs have met at Turner Field for this event.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Children’s and its Brain and Spinal Cord Tumor Program, which treats more than 70 patients annually. The program has earmarked incoming funds toward the purchase of an intra-operative MRI system, which provides real-time, high-quality images of the brain before, during and after surgery. The system’s accuracy offers an advantage for the removal of brain tumors in children.
In 2005, the Spring Baseball Classic for Kids raised more than $220,000 for Children’s. This year’s event is presented by the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children.
