Georgia Tech Game Notes

Jan. 2, 2010

Recap |  Box Score

We’ll Take Montgomery for 21, Alex:
Coming off the bench continues to suit Alex Montgomery just fine. The 6-1 junior, Tech’s leading scorer and rebounder last season before suffering an ACL injury in March, entered the game with 16:34 left in the first half. She promptly hit her first shot and scored 14 first-half points in just 12 minutes.

Montgomery led four Jackets in double-figures with 21 points, making all three of Tech’s 3-point baskets. Her corner jumper to beat the halftime buzzer put the Jackets up 37-23 at the break.

The Deja View:
Deja Foster doubled her pleasure again Saturday. The junior guard recorded her second double-double of the season and third of her career, with 11 points and a career-best 14 rebounds. Ten of Foster’s boards were offensive – two more than Army’s offensive total.

The Jackets grabbed 26 offensive boards, one less than the Cadets’ total rebounds, and finished with a 50-27 advantage on the glass.

An Army of One:
What would the Black Knights haveve done without Erin Anthony? The 6-2 forward was the only Cadet in double-figures with 26 points – 18 in the second half, when she shot 8-for-10. This, after taking an elbow in the first half that left her mouth bloodied. Anthony finished 11-for-16 from the floor.

Only two teammates made baskets: Jessie Coiffard and Liz Benedict, a freshman from Cumming, Ga., who played at North Forsyth High. They combined for five 3-pointers. Benedict’s baseline drive that tied the game 17-all was Army’s only other 2-point basket besides Anthony’s 11 hoops.
