Georgia Tech - Florida State Post Game Quotes

May 29, 2004

Recap?|? Box Score

Georgia Tech Head Coach Danny Hall

Opening Statement

“It was certainly a tough one for us to lose. You have to give them credit. They got the hits late in the game when they needed to. (Kevin) Lynch made some big pitches in the game. We could not quite finish them from a pitching standpoint. We could not quite make a play when we close to getting out of some innings. We could not get the hit to stretch our lead. Give them credit. They did a great job. (Stephen) Drew’s hit was very big.”

On Florida State’s Kevin Lynch

“He is very good. His all has a lot of movement. He is very similar to (Jordan) Crews. We hit a lot of ground balls. He did a great job of keeping us in check.”

On Sunday’s Championship Game

“It is down to one game now. All the advantages that you had are gone. It will come down to who plays the best tomorrow.”

Florida State Head Coach Mike Martin

Opening Statement

“I’ve never been prouder of a group of young guys. It was a great win! It was a game in which we were very fortunate to win. Georgia Tech is a great baseball team. This bunch right here will fight you tooth and nail and I don’t think I have ever been prouder of a group of Seminoles.”

On the final game of the tournament Sunday:

“You can expect a group to go out there and fight their cuts out. I tell you what, that was a game tonight. We got out there and fought and fought. Eddy (Martinez-Esteve) ran into one late. What a great ball game!”

Stephen Drew, Shortstop

On the game and the confidence of the team:

“I think we had a lot of confidence coming into the game with a victory against UNC. Then we came back and got the win against GT. When everybody plays as hard as they can and give it all they have on the field, that’s all you can ask for. Now its time to go get some rest and everybody is probably tired after playing two games. Its nitty gritty time for tomorrow, so we will just be ready to go.”
